Course Rating5/5

Unit testing with JavaScript training teaches participants how to write effective and automated unit tests for JavaScript applications using popular frameworks like Jest, Mocha, or Jasmine. The course covers key concepts such as setting up testing environments, writing test cases, and using assertions to validate code behavior. Participants learn how to mock dependencies, handle asynchronous code, and ensure that individual components of their JavaScript application work correctly in isolation. Hands-on exercises help participants practice organizing tests, debugging failing tests, and integrating testing into CI/CD pipelines. By the end of the training, attendees will be proficient in applying unit testing techniques to ensure the reliability and quality of their JavaScript code.

Basic knowledge of JavaScript programming language.
Familiarity with object-oriented programming concepts and functions.
No prior experience with unit testing is required.

Upon completion of this course, participants will:

Understand the core concepts of unit testing and its significance in JavaScript development.
Learn to write unit tests using popular JavaScript testing frameworks like Jest and Mocha.
Gain hands-on experience in mocking and spying on functions.
Understand how to test both synchronous and asynchronous JavaScript code.
Learn how to integrate unit testing into the development lifecycle.
Be able to write effective and maintainable tests for JavaScript applications.

Unit Testing with JavaScript: Ability to write and execute unit tests using Jest, Mocha, or other testing frameworks.
Test Framework Setup: Skill in setting up testing frameworks for JavaScript applications.
Mocking and Stubbing: Understanding how to mock dependencies and use spies to isolate code components during tests.
Testing Asynchronous Code: Proficiency in writing tests for asynchronous JavaScript code using promises, async/await, and callbacks.
Test-Driven Development (TDD): Ability to use TDD principles to write tests first and then implement the corresponding code.
Code Coverage and Quality: Knowledge of tools and techniques for measuring and improving test coverage.

Participants will be assessed on:

Writing Unit Tests: Ability to write unit tests for JavaScript functions and methods.
Test Framework Usage: Proficiency in using Jest, Mocha, or other popular JavaScript testing libraries.
Mocking and Spying: Ability to mock and spy on functions and objects to isolate test components.
Asynchronous Testing: Knowledge and application of testing asynchronous JavaScript code using promises and async/await.
Code Coverage and Refactoring: Understanding of how to measure test coverage and refactor code based on test results.

Certificate of Completion: Participants who attend all sessions and successfully complete the course assessments will receive a ProgNXT Certificate of Completion for Unit Testing with JavaScript Training.
